At first glance, the vintage landscapes can give the idea that Cuba has stopped in time. An immersion in the streets of Havana, however, shows that this statement is wrong. The country and its capital have recently undergone a series of political and economic transformations. This essay tries to capture how past, present and future coexist in Cuba.

In a country marked by contradictions, the poverty and the excellence in sports coexist. Cuba's supremacy in Olympic boxing is world famous. Less well known is the way the country begins to forge its athletes since childhood. In Havana, it is common to see 5-year-old boys practicing in small boxing schools.
